Mission Statement: To provide a safe, efficient and affordable system for movement of vehicular and pedestrian traffic through and within the City limits for residents, employees and visitors.

The primary purpose of the Street Department is to plan, construct, and maintain a safe, reliable and efficient highway system within the City of Boyne City. This is not just limited to the 40 miles of streets and alleys, but includes the implementation of an effective storm water collection and discharge system, the installation and maintenance of traffic controls and informational signs, as well as repair and construction of a safe pedestrian sidewalk system throughout the City. The Street Department continues to maintain and develop the parks system in the City. During the summer, two people are assigned for the maintenance and development of our parks system. During winter months, employees are available for the development of our ice skating rink and sledding hill at Avalanche Preserve. To fund these operations we receive the majority of our money from City taxpayers and the additional funds provided by various state taxes.
